The land surrounding the Cayman Brac Lighthouse is not just scenic, it’s part of our heritage, identity, and future.
For generations, this area has been a place of meaning, and now we have reason to celebrate: steps are being taken to purchase and protect this land.
But our work doesn’t stop here.
We must ensure it is fully protected from future development.
This feels especially important when considering the global goal to preserve 30% of land and water by 2030.
Today, Grand Cayman is at only 11% protected land, and Cayman Brac sits even lower at 8%.
Securing the Lighthouse lands is a critical step toward closing that gap, and toward ensuring that our children and grandchildren inherit a Brac rich in both natural beauty and cultural legacy.
